Job Description & How to Apply Below
We’re looking for a Plant Controller to support one of our manufacturing partners, the Astronauts client. This role is equal parts strategic and hands‑on — a blend of financial insight, operational awareness, and day‑to‑day business support. Reporting to the CFO, the Plant Controller keeps a pulse on costs, forecasts, and performance while helping identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability across the plant.

What You’ll Do- Own the reporting process for Cost of Goods Sold, including monthly results, forecasts, and annual plans.
- Review budgets and inputs around materials, labor, overhead, and department expenses.
- Keep bills of material and product cost standards accurate and up to date.
- Track margins and inventory each week and month, digging into trends and anomalies.
- Partner with operations to make sure physical inventory counts line up and discrepancies are resolved.
- Conduct ongoing spend and variance analysis to help the plant understand where money is being used and how to optimize it.
- Work with the production team to review labor, material, and overhead performance, calling out any red flags or improvement areas.
- Look at excess or obsolete inventory and make recommendations to clean things up.
- Support strong internal controls across finance, operations, and sales processes.
- Join daily production meetings to stay connected to what’s happening on the floor and where support is needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Around five years (or more) of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally as a Plant Controller or Cost Manager.
- A strong technical base — comfortable in Excel, experienced with ERP systems, and confident working through cost and inventory data.
- An analytical, curious mindset with a knack for spotting patterns and asking good questions.
- Clear communication skills — able to translate financial insights into something that makes sense for everyone from the shop floor to the C‑suite.
- Organized, proactive, and ready to roll up your sleeves when needed.
This position spends time in both the office and the plant. You’ll occasionally be around equipment, moving parts, and general production activity. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
