Diesel Mechanic-Shelton-2nd Shift

We are currently hiring a 2ND SHIFT Diesel Mechanic Technician in Shelton, CT.

• Shift: 2nd shift (12:00 pm–10:00 pm)
• Hourly rate: $25.00–$35.00 per hour

Essential Job Functions

Our Diesel Mechanics perform inspection, diagnosis, preventative maintenance, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines. Utilizing diagnostic software, Mechanics interpret failure modes and initiate or assign necessary repairs. At times, Mechanics may be on call, assisting with emergency breakdowns.

As a Diesel Mechanic, you will:

• Inspect, diagnose, and maintain heavy truck systems
• Use diagnostic software to interpret failures
• Initiate or assign repairs
• Respond to emergency breakdown calls when required

Work Environment

• Continuously investing in equipment, many trucks less than 2 years old
• Occasional travel to other sites for emergency breakdowns may be required
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided
• Position may require lifting up to 50 pounds and frequent squatting and standing

Requirements and Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States
• A valid driver’s license; CDL preferred
• 2+ years experience as a heavy-duty large truck Diesel Mechanic
• Hydraulics experience highly preferred
• Experience troubleshooting/repairing DPF systems and diagnostic software such as Premium Tech Tool (Mack), Allison transmission, Cummins, CAT, Peterbilt, and Paccar
• Yellow Iron experience and/or experience as a Mechanic or Technician for a refuge company is a plus
• Working knowledge of applicable DOT and OSHA standards and regulations
• Strong English communication skills for speaking, reading, and writing reports
• Ability to meet physical and safety requirements
• Must bring own tools

Salary Range

USD $25.00–$35.00 per hour
