Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise for process design, system optimization, quality control, commissioning & start-up, and troubleshooting of equipment and process systems.
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, and technical teams to identify and implement process modifications that improve safety, quality, productivity, reduce costs, increase efficiency, and reduce process variability in a team atmosphere.
- Help develop and implement technical training programs for operators and lab technicians.
- Continually build relationships with operators and management to enable knowledge sharing that may uncover the best solution to a problem.
- Perform routine testing of key process variables to ensure online process instrumentation accuracy.
- Make appropriate recommendations to facilitate continuous improvement.
- Use available resources to statistically analyze processes and process data to develop and sustain optimal operating centerlines.
- Support the Process Engineer to troubleshoot potential issues and provide back‑up support for paper testing lab and CFI lab.
- Manage process changes and chemical additives/machine trials.
- Provide plant support in troubleshooting root‑cause analysis (RCA) of process and equipment issues.
- Troubleshoot machines, tooling, and process.
- Record, understand, and monitor important process parameters (centerlines).
- Troubleshoot quality defects.
- Improve production efficiency and reduce equipment downtime.
- Strictly follow quality control work instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety protocol.
- Find and eliminate safety risks that may exist to promote a safe and effective work environment.
- Comply with GMP.
- Complete tasks assigned by supervisor or management as necessary.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of pulp and paper manufacturing processes, materials and equipment.
- Strong project management skills: excellent organizational skills with ability to focus on details.
- Must possess strong communication skills.
- Must have a positive attitude toward teamwork and process improvement.
- Technical Degree or greater in Engineering or related field.
- A minimum of 2 years pulp experience.
- Three to five years of experience in process troubleshooting.
Our manufacturing plant is not environmentally controlled. Changes in humidity and temperature occur throughout the year. Although machine noise is a constant, conditions are maintained within standards that meet OSHA‑mandated requirements and are monitored by our Safety Committee.
