Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting experienced Learning Support Assistants to work across specialist provisions in the Shepton Mallet area from September 2026, with the possibility of an earlier start.
This opportunity is ideal for individuals who enjoy the variety of supply work and would like to support children and young people with additional needs across a number of specialist settings.
The schools support pupils with a diverse range of needs, including autism, SEMH, complex learning difficulties, communication needs, sensory differences and associated behaviours that may challenge.
The role requires confident and adaptable individuals who are able to quickly build relationships and become part of the school team.
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
- Encourage positive engagement and participation.
- Support emotional regulation and social development.
- Assist with communication and independence targets.
- Provide reassurance and consistency throughout the school day.
- Work alongside teachers, therapists and senior leaders.
These are ad hoc supply roles and therefore applicants must be able to work effectively from day one.
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have:
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
- Experience supporting children with additional needs.
- Knowledge of autism and SEMH needs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and flexible approach.
- Flexible work patterns to suit your availability.
- Access to a variety of SEN and SEMH provisions.
- Competitive hourly rate of £14.25 per hour.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
