Job Summary
Are you a qualified nurse looking to take a new step in your nursing career? Our Nurses are real life health care heroes, and we are seeking compassionate people with experience of working either District nursing or hospital environment to join our Ambulatory Care setting and Newly established Community Investigation Hub.
Got a passion for clinical skills and patient care then this job is for you. Working 8 - 4 Monday to Friday our unit offers clinical investigations such as Blood and Iron infusions, central lines and catheters for patients close to there own home in an outpatient setting, preventing patients having to attend busy acute hospitals.
We value our RGNs highly, so development and training within this role will be offered and prioritised. You will require good communication skills, a team work approach and be able provide a high standard of nursing care with the support of your team. Informal visits/chats always welcome - contact us today to discuss the position in more detail or organise for you to come and visit!
This advert is open to registered nurses, with some clinical skills desirable.
Successful applicant will work for 3 days in an established Ambulatory Care Unit, for the other 2 days you will be running and developing The Community Investigation Hub, providing a range of tests commissioned by GPs. The CIH runs across 2 sites, Frome Community Hospital and Shepton Mallet Community Hospital, providing specified tests requested by secondary care and carried out in the community.
This will include but will not be limited to phlebotomy, spirometry, FeNO, ECG/ECG holter tests, weight, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. As part of the Ambulatory Care team, you will also be providing blood and iron infusions, routine catheter changes, chemotherapy pump removal, central line care and removal, intravenous antibiotics, cannulation, venesections, ABPI Dopplers and Portacaths.
Due to the services on offer you will need to be a NMC qualified nurse able to provide high quality evidence based, person centred care. A knowledge or experience of working in similar settings would be desirable but not crucial although ability to be able to work autonomously is important due to the nature of the unit. It is essential that the nurse can identify deterioration and allergic reactions and sepsis, knowing the process of escalation as most of the patients are immune suppressed due to chemotherapy.
It is also important that the nurse has a good knowledge of IT skills as the unit runs on an electronical booking system and all the patients notes are held on an electronical data based called RIO.
