Salary: Grade 10, ranging from £37,280 - £41,771 per annum.

Role summary

You will provide specialist Occupational Therapy support within Children’s Services, helping children and young people with additional needs to improve their safety, wellbeing and independence. You’ll carry out holistic assessments, manage risk and deliver tailored interventions that enable young people to achieve their daily living goals.

Working closely with families, carers and partner agencies, you’ll manage a caseload, develop and review support plans, coordinate effective multi‑agency services, and provide professional advice and recommendations.

What you’ll do – key responsibilities

As Occupational Therapists, we help children and young people with disabilities achieve greater independence, safety and wellbeing. Working as part of a multi‑agency team, you'll provide specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions, supporting children, families, carers, schools and care providers to achieve the best possible outcomes.

What you’ll be doing
  • Assess children’s occupational therapy needs at home, school and care settings.
  • Develop tailored support plans, recommendations and interventions to promote independence and participation in daily life.
  • Recommend and review equipment, adaptations and aids to daily living.
  • Work closely with families, social workers, health professionals, schools and other agencies to deliver coordinated support.
  • Support safe hospital discharges and transitions back into the community.
  • Contribute to multi‑agency meetings, reviews and care planning.
  • Maintain accurate records, assessments and reports in line with statutory requirements.
  • Promote children’s rights, inclusion, equality and positive outcomes.
What we’re looking for – knowledge, experience & skills
  • A recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and current HCPC registration.
  • Experience assessing and supporting children, young people and families.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment and child‑focused practice.
  • The ability to manage a varied caseload and produce clear, professional reports.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively with health, education and social care professionals.

Additional information
  • Permanent Contract, 37 hours a week. Based at Shepton Mallet.
  • This role can be fully office based or hybrid (approximately 1‑2 days per week in the office).
  • 30 day’s annual leave (additional to bank holidays).
