Financial Accounting Director McGill

McGill University seeks a financial accounting leader in Montreal with audit expertise, reporting knowledge, and strong people leadership.

The Associate Director leads financial reporting and unrestricted accounting within a complex university environment. Responsibilities include financial statements, government reporting, tax activities, audit support, controls, and financial analysis. The role translates Controller direction into effective operating practices while developing a collaborative, service-oriented team.

• Prepare and deliver quarterly and annual financial statements
• Oversee government reporting, reconciliations, and tax activities
• Support interim and year-end audit processes
• Provide expert advice on complex accounting matters
• Represent the Controller’s Office with stakeholders

• CPA designation required; audit designation is an asset
• Progressive financial reporting and accounting experience
• Experience working with auditors and accounting standards
• Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing teams
• Strong judgment, ethics, confidentiality, and independence
