Program DescriptionBishop’s University invites applications for a Tier II Canada Research Chair position at any eligible rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor). We are seeking an emerging world-class scholar to help advance Bishop’s University’s research objectives as outlined in our Strategic Plan. The call is open to scholars in the following fields:
- Science, Technology, and Innovation
- Health and Wellbeing
- Education and Pedagogy
- Art, Culture, and Society Exploration
- Agriculture, Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change
At this time only internal candidates will be considered. Internal candidates are defined as professors employed at Bishop’s University as of July 1, 2026, in a tenured or tenure-stream position. In addition, candidates must be within 10 years of their first independent academic research-related appointment. An independent academic research-related appointment:
- is a university faculty appointment (tenured or non-tenured);
- requires the researcher to engage in research that is not under the direction of another individual; and
- authorizes the researcher to supervise or co-supervise the research of students registered in undergraduate or graduate degree programs, or of postdoctoral fellows.
Applicants who are more than 10 years from their first independent academic research-related appointment (and where career breaks exist, such as maternity, parental or extended sick leave, clinical training, leaves due to caring for family members, or slowdowns due to chronic illness or disability, etc.) may have their eligibility for a Tier 2 Chair assessed through the program’s Tier2 justification process
.
Questions concerning eligibility can be directed to the Vice-Principal Academic and Research
