Position: STRUCTURAL STEEL AND PLATEWORK ESTIMATOR

Anmar Mechanical and Electrical Contractors Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced Structural Steel and Platework Estimator to join our team!
Qualifications

  • 3-5 years experience estimating in a fabrication environment.
  • Diploma in Mechanical or Structural Engineering considered a strong asset.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Scheduling, and Microsoft Project.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel, including fabrication, assembly, installation, and welding practices.
  • Experience in a QA/QC role considered a strong asset.
  • Experience preparing schedules, specifications and reports.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet project deadlines.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on conceptual, design‑build or general tender work.
  • Assess the financial, technical and operational risks of the project in terms of cost effectiveness.
  • Investigate proposals, blueprints, and any related documents to determine labor, material, cost, and time requirements.
  • Complete budgeting and scheduling for projects, monitor progress, requisition change orders and identify any potential risks.
  • Confer with engineers, designers, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Oversee the various stages of a company project to ensure that expenses adhere to the budget.
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of projects.
  • Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
  • Ability to formulate cost breakdown from estimates and for project progress.
  • Maintain a database of customers, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors etc. as well as estimated and actual project costs.
  • Contribute to team effort by achieving necessary results of fulfilling a client’s design goals with furniture of enduring quality and flawless functionality.
  • Understand and adhere to company policies and procedures.
