The quality manager makes the quality rounds, inspects the parts to ensure that the operators have produced parts that meet all customer requirements and advises the supervisor on what to do when a part is not 100% compliant. He/she ensures that operators use the right work methods and, if necessary, advises them.
Duties and Responsibilities1. Quality
- Perform rounds on all presses/workstations every hour to ensure the conformity of the parts.
- Identify any potential defects or problems that could compromise the integrity of the part.
- Advise the supervisor when the parts are not 100% compliant, i.e. either accept it, refuse it or involve the quality manager.
- Adequately complete the front and back of the production report.
- Dock - audit on certain products.
- Set aside samples for the next shift.
- Transfer the necessary information at the quality level to all persons so that the information is communicated clearly and completely.
- Carry out the necessary quality tests (pull-test, template test, go-no go, etc.).
- Apply all quality processes, especially work instruction and BOMs.
- Perform certain tasks that are related to the quality team.
- Assist in the preparation of the workstation during mold changes (if necessary).
- In collaboration with the supervisor to ensure that the production start-up of a known product is properly conducted (materials requested according to the BOM, compare the first parts produced with the reference parts in order to approve the firsts, ensure that the templates are present and still valid, verify that the checklist of mold changes is adequately completed).
- Perform 100% inspections on critical products (e.g., new product, tape product, BSM, etc...).
- Perform the GP12.
- Inspect the parts that have been placed on hold.
- Apply the P830 procedure for the management of non-conformities.
- Complete non-compliance reports.
- With the supervisor, inform the operators of the customer's expectations.
- Promote quality to employees.
- Analyze the working methods of the operators and advise them.
- Participate in the improvement of work instructions.
- Explain to operators the appropriate working methods.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects and the corrective action process. Closely monitor the quality level of new employees' parts on their shift.
- Notify supervisor when there is any doubt about an operator's skills or work methods.
- Provide support to operators and supervisors.
- Replace the operator as needed during their breaks.
