Job Description Summary / Objective

The Veteran Services Education Coordinator works as part of a team to design, deliver, and evaluate training for Veteran Services staff. In collaboration with the other Veteran Education Coordinator, this role ensures staff receive effective instruction that supports the delivery of high-quality case management services for Veterans. The position requires occasional travel to other Veteran Service offices to conduct training as needed.

Essential

Functions
  • Identify, oversee, and develop a training curriculum for new hires in the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program and tailor individual training plans according to the SSVF program roles.
  • Maintain consistent contact with new hires during the first three weeks of employment to provide support and address concerns.
  • Ensure that all SSVF training is tracked, documented, and uploaded into VOA’s education and training software program (Relias).
  • Provide training for all Veteran Services staff in various subject areas, including MANDT, Mental Health First Aid, and First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Ensure that all conducted training is tracked, documented, and uploaded into VOANR’s learning management system.
  • Work with SSVF Program Managers and other designated trainers to ensure their knowledge and training are in alignment with the current training curriculum.
  • Provide additional training and support to SSVF staff as necessary, in consultation with SSVF leadership.

  • Track training data and information to monitor training progress and identify any trends in training retention and comprehension.

Work Environment

This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position

Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Occasional travel required. Travel will include both day and overnight trips as necessary for essential organizational and program-specific training.

Required Education, Experience, or Eligibility Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree or 2 years of equivalent experience
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Must either be certified as a trainer or be able to obtain and maintain valid certifications as a trainer for Mental Health First Aid, MANDT
