SWCA Environmental Consultants is looking for a Lead Project Manager – Mining to join our nationwide Mining Team.

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in supporting environmental opportunities within the precious, base, industrial and rare earths markets.

This is a full-time, regular (with benefits), salaried position, eligible for distributed work in the US. Project work will initially occur primarily in Wyoming and may branch out to support clients throughout the US.

• Apply technical knowledge in mining and related environmental services (e.g., studies, permitting, NEPA, operation support, and closure) to support project tasks and team objectives.
• Manage medium to large-sized mine permitting, owner’s environmental, NEPA, and closure/reclamation support projects, ensuring project deliverables meet required standards.
• Provide technical, planning, and permitting support to project teams in Wyoming and neighboring states.
• Serve as project manager for assigned clients, collaborating with team members to deliver project objectives.
• Support the execution of mining projects within the Colorado/Northern Plains sub-region through effective project management.
• Assist with mining projects in other regions as needed, working under the direction of senior staff.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients and stakeholders within assigned mining projects.
• Contribute to SWCA’s reputation for successfully supporting mining projects with challenging environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and recommend innovative approaches within assigned projects and stay informed about developments in the mining industry.
• Ensure assigned projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and meet client expectations and internal requirements.
• Drive compliance of safety policies and reporting requirements to ensure overall team safety.

• Bachelor’s degree in Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, or related technical field.
• 8 years of project management experience in the mining industry (preferred).
• Strong computer skills for database work and proficiency in MS Office.
• Understanding of agency internal processes and procedures and with federal land management and regulatory agencies.
• Strong business development skills as a seller/doer to develop productive business relationships with agency, client, and industry contacts.

• Flexible to work outside normal business hours as required; may include weekend and nighttime work.
