As an Engineering Test Technician I, you'll support the testing of firearms, accessories, and ammunition—ensuring they perform safely, reliably, and to Weatherby's standards. SUMMARY DESCRIPTIONThe Engineering Test Technician I is responsible for executing firearm and component tests in accordance with SAAMI standards and internal procedures. This role prepares and maintains test equipment, collects and documents test data, supports prototype assembly, and works closely with design and manufacturing teams to support product improvements. This entry-level technician position plays a critical role in ensuring product safety, function, and reliability.

- Impact – Your work directly influences design decisions, reliability improvements, and product performance.
- Conduct testing in accordance with SAAMI standards and company testing procedures.
- Prepare test setups, supplies, and equipment needed for scheduled tests.
- Support prototype assembly and component preparation for testing.
- Collect data accurately and record test results in required formats.
- Maintain test equipment and support department readiness for future tests.
- Work efficiently and cooperatively in a team environment.
- Follow testing schedules, safety protocols, and documentation standards.
- Two years of experience in firearms manufacturing, military service involving firearms, or related firearms experience.
- Computer skills including Excel or comparable software, word processing, and electronic documentation.
- Ability to accurately conduct tests from planning through reporting.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both management and production teams.
- Ability to work independently with strong initiative and self‑motivation.
- Meet objective goals assigned during quarterly performance coaching.
- Perform duties under direct supervision in a timely and accurate manner.
- Follow all safety procedures and quality control protocols.
- Walk, sit, use hands to handle tools or components, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; prolonged standing required.
- Ability to manipulate and assemble small parts.
- Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 57 pounds and push/pull up to 53 pounds.
- Office and manufacturing environments with moderate to loud noise levels.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration may occur.
- Uses standard office equipment including computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
