Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Help drive a safe and high-quality equipment team. Maintain effective communications between EES, process engineering, quality, test and manufacturing to ensure optimal tool availability. Drive improvements on existing equipment and process roadblocks using data‑driven material and methods. Effectively influence and collaborate with colleagues, partners and cross‑functional teams beyond direct reporting structures. Drive outcomes through influence rather than authority, leveraging trust, communication and credibility across teams.
Own and develop KPI and projects while collaborating with Process Engineers to improve existing and expand new development processes. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment performance. Provide technical expertise and support of new equipment selection and tool sign‑off. Direct and manage the installation of new equipment. Lead technicians on complex tool repairs and provide hands‑on support until resolved.
Coordinate maintenance activities with EES Manager and technicians. Travel domestically and internationally as required. Carry company-provided cell phone for 24/7 factory support.
- 4‑year college degree or Military Electronics certification (considered based on semiconductor experience).
10+ years experience working on wafer processing equipment or related experience. - Maintenance knowledge in multiple of the following equipment:
Plasmatherm Etch, Oxford Deposition and Etch, LAPECVD, PVD, Matrix Asher, Koyo vertical furnace, Lam rainbow, SPTS/KLA Sput, Evatec BAK.
- Basic computer skills:
Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. - Understand and troubleshoot RF systems and the theory of components involved.
- Read electronic schematics, mechanical blueprints, pneumatic, vacuum diagrams, flow charts and hydraulic system prints.
- Knowledge of Etch, CVD, PVD and Furnace processes; SPC theory and implementation; vacuum theory and pumps.
- Operate and interpret test equipment: oscilloscopes, DMMs, RGAs, high‑voltage probes, pressure and temperature gauges, dial indicators, RF meters; use helium leak detector and RGA.
- Root‑cause problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; self‑motivated; excellent communication and leadership skills; strong interpersonal, teaming and problem‑solving skills.
- Class 100/1000 clean room; full clean room attire.
- Work with chemicals, acids and solids; work with gases, hazardous and non‑hazardous.
- Flexible schedule to support 24/7 operation.
- Stand for up to 10 hours; lift 50 pounds or push/pull up to 150 pounds.
Execution and maintenance of ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and other applicable standards. Adhere to site EHS procedures and corporate EHS standards.
