Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and review designs for mechanical utility systems supporting clean rooms and manufacturing spaces (e.g., HVAC, chilled water, CDA, vacuum, exhaust).
  • Prepare and evaluate engineering documents including P&IDs, utility schematics, mechanical layouts, and design packages.
  • Ensure designs comply with ISO cleanroom classifications, building codes, and internal engineering standards.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews with internal stakeholders and external engineering firms to validate system performance, constructability, and safety.
  • Provide technical input early in project planning to define system requirements and align design strategies with operational needs.
Construction Engineering, Field Support & Commissioning
  • Provide on-site engineering support during construction, including system inspections, issue resolution, and verification of mechanical utility installations.
  • Conduct site walks, field validations, and constructability assessments to ensure alignment with design intent and project specifications.
  • Coordinate mechanical‑related construction activities, ensuring contractor readiness, quality execution, and adherence to project schedules.
  • Develop and manage RFPs for mechanical utility scope, evaluate proposals, and ensure clear flow‑down of technical requirements to subcontractors.
  • Track progress toward utility readiness milestones and proactively escalate risks or delays.
  • Ensure design modifications and field changes are captured, communicated, and updated in project documentation.
  • Support system start‑up, testing, commissioning, and turnover of new or upgraded mechanical infrastructure.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, performance, and maintainability; propose roadmaps and recommendations for long‑term enhancements and implement them.
Cross‑Functional Coordination & Requirements Alignment
  • Partner with Project Management, Construction Management, EHS, Facilities, and Equipment Engineering teams to establish infrastructure requirements and confirm system designs meet operational and safety needs.
  • Collaborate with Equipment Installation teams to align utility availability with tool move‑in, hookup, and qualification timelines.
  • Represent mechanical utility engineering in cross‑functional decision‑making, schedule reviews, and site readiness discussions.
  • Communicate technical considerations, risks, and design impacts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Engineering Documentation, Standards & Compliance
  • Generate and maintain accurate mechanical engineering documentation including redlines, as‑built, system matrices, and specifications.
  • Support development of preventive maintenance procedures and system hand‑off documentation for newly implemented utilities.
  • Ensure all mechanical designs and construction activities comply with applicable codes, safety requirements, and internal engineering standards.
  • Contribute to standardization of mechanical utility design practices, documentation templates, and best practices across projects.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. In lieu of formal education, candidates with extensive hands‑on experience in mechanical system design, build, and operations will be considered.
  • 9+ years of experience in mechanical design or project engineering within semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or other high‑tech manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting cleanroom and mechanical utility infrastructure through design, construction, and commissioning phases.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and support decision‑making.
  • Proficiency in mechanical systems such as HVAC, chilled water, exhaust, and gas distribution.
