Job Summary
The Nursing Assistant/Telemetry Tech is an unlicensed assistive person who assists with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to patients under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Also monitors cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors. Prepares and compiles records in the department. Able to assist nursing staff with indirect patient care duties as long as the activity does not distract from primary responsibility for dysrhythmia monitoring.
The Step Down Unit is designed to provide intermediate patient care management for patients with increased monitoring or procedural needs that do not meet criteria for admission to the Intensive Care Unit.
Education, Experience, Training- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, preferred.
- Current BLS upon hire or within 30 days of hire.
- Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation education upon hire and maintain current.
- Possesses knowledge of medical terminology.
- Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
