* **- Develop and maintain existing supplier base, consider new supplier contracts as appropriate;*
* **- Negotiate price, payment terms and communicate on-time delivery expectations with current and potential suppliers;*
* **- Work with suppliers, engineers and operations to resolve quality and delivery issues;*
* **- Coordinate engineering changes as they impact purchased material;*
* **- Provide purchasing support for production;*
* **- Manage temporary outsourcing where appropriate;*
* **- Ensure maintenance of proper inventory levels;*
* **- Adhere to company purchasing and accounting policies and procedures;*
* **- Manage assigned purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders to satisfy the operational objectives;*
* **- Monitor supplier performance with the ability to intervene as appropriate to correct unacceptable service levels;*
* **- Ability to make decisions and/or recommendations that may have a substantial impact on operations;*
* **- Implement cost reduction initiatives as related to purchased product;*
* **- Maintain MRP material master settings in accordance with company guidelines;*
* **- Respond to changing market price and product availability trends that could impact operational targets;*

* **- Minimum of five years' experience in an industrial purchasing position;*
* **- Direct material purchasing experience in a heavy manufacturing environment;*
* **- Proficient Microsoft Office skills and strong Microsoft Office Excel skills;*
* **- Proven ERP/MRP systems experience;*
* **- Ability to read blueprints and understand manufacturing processes;*
* **- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others within a team environment;*
* **- Analytical ability to solve complex problems;*
* **- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.*
