Job SummaryThe Lead Hand supports the Foreman in delivering landscape construction projects safely, efficiently, and to Salisbury Landscaping's quality standards. This role helps coordinate daily crew activities, ensures installations follow design plans, and steps into a leadership role on site when the Foreman is unavailable. The Lead Hand plays a key role in keeping projects on schedule, maintaining quality, and supporting crew development.
Dutiesand Responsibilities Project & Crew Support
- Support the Foreman in executing landscape construction projects to plan, schedule, and budget
- Assist with daily planning, material needs, and next-day site preparation
- Help coordinate crew tasks and workflow on site
- Ensure all installations meet Salisbury Landscaping quality standards and industry best practices
- Promote and enforce safe work practices and company safety policies
- Assist with troubleshooting site challenges and installation issues
- Help train new crew members and support skill development across the team
- Step into site leadership responsibilities when the Foreman is absent
- Provide updates to the Foreman on project progress and site needs
- Safely operate and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment on site
- Ensure materials and equipment are used efficiently and responsibly
- Minimum 2 years of landscape or construction leadership experience
- Valid driver’s license with 3 years of personal insurance history
- Ability to read and interpret landscape design plans and drawings
- Strong understanding of landscape installation methods and best practices
- Proven ability to lead crews, delegate work, and maintain standards
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working outdoors in a physically demanding environment
