Job Overview
We are seeking Technical Rescuers to support industrial sites requiring standby rescue coverage and emergency response. This position involves rope rescue, confined space rescue, and other technical rescue functions in high‑risk industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities- Perform rope rescue operations, including high‑angle and low‑angle evolutions.
- Provide confined space standby, atmospheric monitoring, and rescue capability.
- Execute confined space and rope rescue during drills and emergency events.
- Maintain, inspect, and document rescue equipment readiness.
- Participate in training, drills, and skills maintenance to meet competency requirements.
- Follow all site safety protocols, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue and Confined Space Rescue (or equivalent or higher).
- Demonstrated experience in technical rescue operations.
- Ability to successfully pass the Total Safety Emergency Response Physical prior to employment and maintain certification by completing the physical every three years thereafter.
- Completion of required site‑specific safety courses/certifications (e.g., CSTS, H2S Alive, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry and monitor).
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in variable industrial conditions.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and situational awareness.
- Additional technical rescue disciplines meeting or exceeding NFPA 1006 operations standards (e.g., rope rescue, confined space, structural collapse, trench rescue, etc.).
- Industrial emergency response experience on plants, refineries, utilities, or construction sites.
- Additional medical or fire training.
- Casual, on‑call scheduling driven by site needs.
- Day shifts and/or night shifts.
- Use of full PPE, including harnesses and respiratory protection where required.
The role may involve occasional handling of heavy or awkward loads. Where reasonably practicable, mechanical aids, equipment, or team assistance are used to lift, lower, push, pull, or carry such loads, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Code and organizational procedures.
In rare emergency situations, the role may require assisting with the relocation of an individual over a short distance, using approved emergency response techniques, available equipment, and training subject to hazard assessment. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 100 pounds with appropriate assistance. The role also requires the physical capability to safely and independently drag a patient weighing up to 150 pounds for a distance of up to 50 feet, in accordance with established safety procedures and training.
Combination of office and field/production environments. Some exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. Travel to and from customer sites.
Reporting RelationshipsTypically works independently and without direct supervision. Objectives, priorities, and deadlines are defined. Assistance is given with unusual situations that do not have clear objectives. Plans and carries out successive steps and resolves problems and deviations in accordance with instructions, policies, and accepted practices. No direct reports but provides technical guidance to less experienced staff. Frequently serves as a lead (assist with training, monitoring and coaching).

Possesses critical reasoning skills and is capable of applying them effectively in stressful situations. Displays confidence and accepts the challenge and high degree of responsibility entailed in this position.
Demonstrates effective communication (verbal, written and listening) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to inspect, clean and perform preventative maintenance on all rescue equipment so that it is in a constant state of readiness.
Must possess leadership skills and display ability to direct others to assist as needed.
Ability to demonstrate proper techniques and guidelines used during a Technical Rope Rescue to company personnel and outside companies.
Interpersonal communication:
Verbal communication and interpersonal skills are used constantly. Must adapt to situations that may involve emotional instability and multicultural settings. Shares opinions, ideas and resources with others to achieve common goals.
