The Junior Electrical Designer will provide drafting & design services for electrical and related facility systems, following Federation and client standards. Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, this role works closely under other electrical designers to deliver high-quality project outcomes. Responsibilities include preparing drawings, 3D models, and technical documents, while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong client relationships. Success in this role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a commitment to design excellence.
KEYDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIIES
Design & Drafting:
- Prepare technical drawings such as single line diagrams, power, lighting and grounding layouts, cable schedules, panel schedules, schematics and wiring diagrams
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Establish and modify personal work processes according to industry guidelines and procedures
- Working with senior designers to design and develop detailed 3D models of electrical assets, such as cable tray, lighting equipment, junction boxes, etc.
- Ensure that design documents meet specific dimensions, materials, and procedures outline, while correcting any deviations
- Work closely with senior design team members to ensure design documents are completed according to deadlines, electrical codes, industry standards, project standards and goals using AutoCAD
- Collaborate with engineering team in making any necessary alterations to drawings
- Compiling documentation packages and producing document sets
- Ensure work is performed in a competent, diligent, and prudent manner, in accordance with the highest professional standards of the industry and all applicable laws
- Completion of other relevant duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONSSkills and Experience:
- Diploma in Electrical or Engineering design and drafting technology and/ or relevant work experience would be considered an asset
- 1 - 4 years of electrical design experience in the oil and gas or related industry
- EP experience is an asset
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD for 2D is required
- Working knowledge of 3D design software including Plant 3D or CADWorx is an asset
- Familiarity with industry codes/standards is an asset
- Designation with ASET is an asset
- Experience working on technical projects and project budgets
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs
- Field or shop experience is an asset
- Valid drivers license required
- Technically broad-minded, generalist, not afraid of delving into technical issues across the engineering spectrum

At Federation, we support flexible working arrangements for our team. Our hybrid work model includes three days in the office (Tuesday to Thursday) and two days of your choice, whether from home or the office (Monday and Friday). We also offer half-day Fridays to promote work-life balance.
From time to time, travel to client sites or other Federation offices may be required (up to 10%).
