ER Charge Nurse at CHI
As an Emergency Room Charge Nurse you will be a central figure in patient care, seamlessly navigating the healthcare journey to achieve optimal outcomes and an exceptional patient experience. Every day, you will strategically assess, plan, and facilitate comprehensive care across the continuum, expertly advocating for patients while collaborating with physicians, nursing, departments, insurers, and post‑acute providers to ensure timely, high‑quality transitions.
In addition to the RN duties, responsibilities include facilitating day‑to‑day operations of the unit.
- Functions as a clinical and leadership mentor and coach to new and existing staff
- Assists with preparation and oversight of unit schedules.
- Works with department management to balance schedules.
- Oversees and adapts the daily staffing plan to meet the department’s needs.
- Establishes patient assignments for a team of employees.
- Participates in the peer interviewing process in the selection of unit staff.
- Provides input and feedback to the nurse manager/department leadership regarding team performance.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Admission to a BSN program within one year or completion of a Bachelor’s degree within two years of assuming the position is strongly encouraged.
Participation in the Nursing Career Advancement Program is preferred.
Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license. BLS required before hire.

Pay Range$36.36 – $47.66 per hour
