Overview

Memorial Hospital Belleville is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services plus critical and emergency care. Memorial Hospital Shiloh is a 94‑bed, all‑private suite hospital. The Med Surg 5th Floor provides nursing care for adult medical/surgical/telemetry patients.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on illness management, post‑treatment home care, and medication.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Engages in professional development.
• Develops, implements, documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and patient or caregiver.
• Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Maintains a constant state of alertness and works safely as a safety‑sensitive position.
