Combat Systems Consultant
Location:
Portsmouth – 2 days per week in office
Role Type:
Permanent
Salary: £70,000 − £76,200 + 12.5 % Bonus + £510 per month car allowance
OverviewAn established defence engineering firm seeks a seasoned Combat Systems Consultant to join a multidisciplinary team focused on informing business strategy, campaigns and future product development.
Responsibilities- Support group analysis tasks, identify and scope technical support required to deliver the task, and facilitate inter‑ and intra‑business discussions.
- Provide Combat Systems expertise to the Operational Analysis team, ensuring analyses accurately represent performance and capabilities of differing Combat System equipment.
- Use personal experience to offer technical insights on current and near‑future capabilities in sense‑decide‑effect, especially real‑world limitations in maritime environments.
- Support modelling and wargaming activities at all levels and provide Combat Systems engineering subject‑matter expertise.
- Provide insight into typical combat platform operations and application of sense‑decide‑effect capabilities.
- Conduct targeted research to support Operational Analysis, enabling value‑add engagement with academia and industry, addressing maritime and land sector knowledge gaps, and developing 20‑25‑year technology roadmaps.
- Degree‑qualified (or equivalent) with relevant professional experience in engineering, defence, or combat systems.
- Strong and thorough expertise in combat systems.
- Robust engineering background supporting analysis, development, and integration of complex defence systems.
- Ability to challenge established norms, draw on specialist networks, and apply innovative, inclusive thinking to problem‑solving and solution development.
- Strong experience engaging senior stakeholders, particularly customers, and ability to build trusted, mutually beneficial relationships.
- British nationality, having lived and worked in the UK for 5+ years, and eligibility for SC security clearance.
