An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Medical Secretary to join our team in the Ophthalmology Department at Southlands Hospital.
Duties include providing a comprehensive and efficient secretarial and administrative service to the Ophthalmology Consultants and the wider members of our team to include Specialty Doctors, Trust Grades and Deanery Doctors, to ensure all work is prioritised according to the needs of the service.
Main duties of the jobDuties include providing a comprehensive and efficient secretarial and administrative service to the Ophthalmology Department.
Managing your workload you will require excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with NHS colleagues, patients, relatives, by telephone, email and face-to-face.
You must be adaptable, have excellent communication skills and have the ability to embrace change.
Knowledge of working within a health care environment is desirable but not essential.

Person Specification Qualifications- GCSE's C or above in English and Maths and/or equivalent level of knowledge & experience.
- RSA Stage III Typing or equivalent VRQ Vocational Level 3 or 4 or equivalent qualification
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to problem solve and adapt to changing situations
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Previous NHS work experience in an acute or primary care setting
- Experience of working with IT Systems
- Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (as appropriate to role).
- Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues
