Lead Unreal Programmer
You will take ownership of core coding architecture and shape innovative virtual reality simulation projects within the defence sector. This position provides a clear pathway to diversify your technical expertise across artificial intelligence and augmented reality while leading project delivery. You will guide a growing team to modernise critical training solutions and evaluate emerging technologies for real-world applications.
Who we are looking for- British nationality is required due to the nature of the projects.
- Advanced programming capability with Unreal Engine and C++.
- Experience of XR is a plus.
- Working knowledge of multiplayer network coding and performance optimisation & experience collaborating with client-facing research and development teams are also great added skills.

Key responsibilities
- Provide the core coding architecture and technical structure for digital training applications.
- Lead and support the internal development team whilst ensuring code quality meets industry standard practices.
- Coordinate closely with sub-contractors and external partners throughout the project lifecycle.
- Research and evaluate new simulation technologies to support long-term engineering strategies.
- Assist internal change teams with technical proposals and project scoping documentation.
- Comprehensive background in performance profiling and graphics optimisation for virtual environments.
- Practical understanding of source control systems and modern integrated development environments.
- Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across central and graphics processing units.
- Background in agile development methodologies and technical project scoping.
- Degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent professional experience.

- Hybrid working pattern 3x per week onsite
