The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining safe, functional, and beautiful spaces across a region. The Facilities Maintenance Technician prioritizes time in the field with tools in hand. Our team focuses on preventative maintenance; identifying and solving small issues before they become big problems. This is a highly collaborative role that has touchpoints across many Mud Bay teams.
Essential Functions:
- Preventative Maintenance. Ensures Mud Bay facilities are maintained proactively, catching issues early and often. Use maintenance checklists, prioritize time in facilities, and solicit input from staff to assess needs.
- Helpdesk Ticket Solutions. Utilizes Mud Bay’s ticketing system to track work orders, stay in touch with stakeholders, and keep accurate records of work.
- Organization. Maintains detailed records of maintenance needs and work performed. Schedules work and prioritizes time on an ongoing basis. Keeps workspace, vehicle, tools and materials organized and accessible.
- Trades Work. Accomplishes a variety of tasks including but not limited to finish work, appliance repair, hardware installation, drywall repair, painting, minor plumbing and electrical, etc.
- Business Partners. Hires and coordinates outside service providers for repairs and maintenance when appropriate. When appropriate, it seeks multiple bids in order to optimize quality and cost.
- Communication. Proactively reaches out to teammates, collaborators and Store Muddies to share information. Communicates in a timely, respectful, and clear manner.
- On Call. Shares on-call responsibility on a rotating basis to ensure facilities emergencies are resolved and Muddies are supported.
- Safety. Maintains a safe working environment for self and fellow Muddies. Models safe behavior and best practices, slows down assessment and plan before acting.

Physical
Activities:
- Safely operates a vehicle for extended periods to travel between locations across a wide geographic area.
- Loads, transport, and unloads tools, equipment, and materials.
- Frequently moves between workstations, mechanical areas, and service spaces within facilities.
- Navigates tight, cluttered, or confined areas to access equipment, fixtures, and building systems.
- Regularly lifts, carries, and moves tools, materials, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally lifts heavier items with appropriate assistance or equipment.
- Stands and walks for extended periods while conducting inspections, troubleshooting, and performing repairs.
- Uses step stools and ladders to reach elevated areas for tasks such as painting, hardware installation, or accessing building systems.
- Bends, stoops, kneels, and reaches to perform repair and maintenance tasks.
- Uses hand tools, power tools, and small parts requiring fine motor skills and hand–eye coordination.
- Pushes and pulls tools, carts, equipment, and materials as needed.
- Works both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- May work in dusty, noisy, or limited-ventilation areas such as storage spaces or mechanical rooms.
- Uses visual acuity to read work orders, inspect materials, and perform precise tasks.
- Uses hearing ability to communicate effectively, listen for mechanical irregularities, and respond to alarms or equipment sounds.
Qualifications:
- Experience performing general facilities maintenance, including tasks such as painting, drywall repair, minor plumbing, minor electrical work, hardware installation, and finish work.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues across multiple trades.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and related equipment safely and effectively.
