The Dental Hygienist works under the supervision of the Clinic Dentist and provides direct dental care to patients, including examination, diagnosis, and treatment.

Administers oral hygiene care to patients and advises on oral health maintenance and disease prevention.

• Performs assessments, dental hygiene diagnosis, planning, implements treatment, and evaluations.
• Performs extra-oral and intra-oral examinations, including oral cancer screening and periodontal screening.
• Reviews medical and dental history, including vital signs and medical laboratory reports.
• Takes and processes diagnostic radiographs.
• Performs removal of plaque, calculus, and stains from teeth.
• Performs placement and removal of anti-microbial agents.
• Gives verbal oral hygiene instructions to patients.
• Assesses fees for patient services accurately.
• Must be available to rotate to other DRCHC sites as necessary.

• Must be a graduate of an accredited dental hygiene school.
• Must be licensed to practice dental hygiene in Louisiana.
• One year of experience in dental practice preferred.
• Experience with electronic health records required.
