Northwestern State University College of Nursing and School of Allied Health seeks an applicant for a 12-month full‑time faculty position for the Associate/Bachelor of Science degree programs in nursing available in Shreveport, Louisiana beginning January 5, 2026. A Master of Science in Nursing degree required, however, a Doctorate is preferred (required for academic rank of Associate Professor);
Eligible for membership on undergraduate faculty. Unencumbered licensure status as an RN or APRN in the state of Louisiana; or eligible for Louisiana licensure. At least three (3) years of clinical nursing experience. At least three (3) years of nurse educator experience preferred. Must be able to pass a background check and shall meet the required standards defined by the University.
Duties (50%)
- Teach all classes in a manner that will promote academic excellence to the fullest extent.
- Provide instruction in areas of expertise.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to domain of learning.
- Serve as a role model to students and peers.
- Assist with development, evaluation and revision of curriculum, policies, and procedures within the College of Nursing.
- Maintain required office hours.
- Maintain good attendance.
- Supervise and evaluate student learning experiences.
- Serve as an advisor and mentor for students in the College of Nursing.
- Advise students interested in the program and those currently in the program regarding the curriculum and APDG requirements.
- Attend College of Nursing and/or University functions and committee meetings as assigned.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the College of Nursing goals and objectives.
- Assist with maintenance of records and files pertinent to the College of Nursing.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with federal laws and program policy.
- Serve as a liaison between the College of Nursing and other University departments as well as local, state, and national agencies and professional organizations.
