Assistant​/Associate Professor- Agacnp Coordinator

Northwestern State University College of Nursing and School of Allied Health seeks an applicant for a 9-month tenure-track full-time Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing- AGACNP Coordinator available in Shreveport, LA beginning January 2026.

Terminal degree Doctorate required (or Doctorate in progress). National certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner required. Louisiana license as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, and a minimum of two years clinical nurse practitioner experience required. Two (2) years of nurse educator experience; three (3) or more preferred. Must be able to pass a background check and shall meet the required standards defined by the University.

• Provide instruction in areas of expertise.
• Teach undergraduate (if assigned) and graduate nursing courses in a manner that promotes academic excellence to the fullest extent.
• Evaluate students and report their progress.
• Utilize a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to domain of learning.
• Serve as a role model to students and peers.
• Assist with development. evaluation and revision of curriculum, and policies and procedures within the College of Nursing.
• Maintain required office hours.
• Maintain good attendance. Supervise and evaluate student learning experiences.
• Teach across programs as needed Maintains Clinical practice as an advanced practice nurse and participates in student clinical learning/practice with affiliated agencies.

• Serve as an advisor and mentor for students in the College of Nursing.
• Recruit students to all programs within the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health.
• Advises students interested in the program and those currently in the program regarding the curriculum and APDG requirements.

• Attend College of Nursing and/or University functions and committee meetings as assigned.
• Maintain records and files related to undergraduate and graduate nursing courses.
