Responsibilities- Provides technical services to daily operational control of a large complex voice, data telecommunications and LAN/WAN system.
- Installs, troubleshoots, tests and maintains all telecom/network equipment and on‑site DC power systems including batteries (12V, 24V, 48V), rectifiers, generators, fuse panels, solar panels and grounding.
- Coordinates with SCADA, Gas Control, Network Services, local operations and company partners.
- Collaborates with Telecommunications Engineers/Specialists to assure the reliable operations of the Company’s Telecommunications assets.
- Demonstrates technical expertise in specialties, geographic areas or operational functions.
- Applies specialized knowledge to complete projects and/or work assignments.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for the most complex testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications devices, lines, modems, and terminals).
- Required:
High School Diploma/GED, technical/trade school certification or military electronics training and minimum eight (8) years’ experience in telecommunications, operations or maintenance. - Preferred:
Associate’s or two‑year technical school degree in electronics or military electronics training and valid FCC license, telecommunications certificate or license.
- Must possess valid State Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Thrives in a team environment and can build partnerships with others.
- Currently reside or are willing to relocate within 30 miles of assigned location.
- Knowledge of communications services (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Fiber Optics, T1, Wireless, etc.).
- Preferred:
Working knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, and access point. - Preferred:
Experience in Pipeline Operations, Utilities, or similar industry.
- Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises and in enclosed spaces.
- Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team lift loads of more than 50 lbs as needed.
- Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time.
- Work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).
- Use hand tools.
- Must be available for 24‑hour call‑out and to work after hours, on‑call rotations, nights, weekend shifts and holidays as the need arises.
- May be required to work overtime.
- Must be willing to travel daily using company provided vehicle; overnight travel will occasionally be vital.
