Overview
Outpatient Clinical Dietitian - Nutritional Services - St. Mary at Ochsner LSU Health coordinates the nutritional care of patients, completes nutritional assessments, prepares nutrition care plans, recommends nutritional therapies, and monitors the effectiveness of nutritional care. Provides nutrition education to promote improved health and complies with regulatory requirements. Conducts community education, marketing, and public relations efforts. Attends committee meetings as assigned and participates in in-services and continuing education programs.
Responsibilities- Assesses patients’ nutritional needs and creates nutrition care plans.
- Provides nutritional education and counseling.
- Documents records completely and accurately.
- Supports departmental goals.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanations of services, and obtaining permissions and appropriate communication.
- Other related duties as required.

Qualifications- Minimum Education — Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or related field.
- Minimum Work Experience — None;
Preferred: 1 year clinical work experience with knowledge of normal and therapeutic nutrition, nutrition screening and support principles, and modified diets. - Required Certifications — Registered Dietitian status with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; current licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist status with LBEDN. Minimum certification:
Applicant must meet examination eligibility requirements to become a Registered Dietitian (CDR) and must be provisionally licensed with LBEDN; must pass the registration exam and become licensed within 12 months of hire. - KSAs — Must have computer skills for data entry, effective verbal and written communication, proficiency with Windows-style applications, strong interpersonal skills, commitment to evidence-based practice, and strong organizational and prioritization skills. Ability to travel between facilities.
