Job Summary:
The Ultrasound / Sonography Technologist performs high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols, with a focus on maternal-fetal medicine. This role requires expertise in abdominal and OB-Gyn imaging, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify physician orders and ensure correct procedures.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment according to protocols.
- Perform abdominal and OB-Gyn imaging, assisting radiologists in guided procedures as required.
- Review images to ensure diagnostic quality before submission.
- Document procedures in radiology information systems.
- Provide clear explanations to patients regarding procedures.
- Conduct quality control procedures in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist in departmental operations, including inventory and scheduling.
- Adhere to privacy, patient care, and compliance standards.
- Maintain knowledge of anatomy, pathology, and scanning techniques relevant to assigned specialty.
- Completion of a CAHEA-approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a sonographer.
- Proven Maternal Fetal Medicine imaging experience.
- Experience with vascular ultrasound.
- Additional advanced specialty certifications.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Abdominal and OB-Gyn ultrasound or Cardiac Sonography.
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).
- Advanced certification in area(s) of specialty per facility needs.
- MFM certification.
- Proficiency in computer systems, software, and web applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of abdominal organ anatomy and pathology.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and ethical standards.
