Responsibilities
  • In charge of the designated nursing functions during the shift.
  • Evaluate, plan, and implement adequate resident care and prevention of illnesses.
  • Provide direct care to residents and delegate/supervise care provided by AMIs/CNAs.
  • Assign specific duties to AMIs on the shift and supervise to ensure completion of assignments.
  • Participate in developing, implementing, and revising the resident’s service plan.
  • Identify, report, and document incidents/accidents and participate in investigations.
  • Prepare, administer, and evaluate responses to medications and treatments as ordered by the physician; document accordingly.
  • Assist residents in ordering or reordering their medications.
  • Document nursing activities accurately and timely; keep medical records current.
  • Identify and report changes in residents’ status to physicians and responsible parties.
  • Orient new employees as assigned.
  • Coordinate and participate in admission, transfer, and discharge of residents.
  • Communicate resident problems, needs, complaints, or other concerns with the Nursing Director in a timely manner.
  • Respond to emergency situations and obtain assistance as necessary; perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation as trained/advised.
  • Ensure residents’ rights are protected and residents are safeguarded from abuse or neglect.
  • Practice and assure AMIs adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Supervise AMIs and function as charge nurse during shifts.
Qualifications
  • Licensed to practice in Louisiana.
  • Good communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and manage stress.
Physical Demands

Ability to pull, push up to 90 pounds, lift up to 50 pounds.
