CRNA opening in Shreveport, LA
The CRNA has responsibility and accountability for providing advanced nurse practice while administering anesthesia to patients. This job is responsible for preparing and administering anesthesia agents to surgical and obstetrical patients under a delegating physician. Responsibility and accountability of anesthesia services lies with the Medical Director.
Responsibilities- Assess patients peri‑operatively
- Perform patient history and physical
- Review patient records to determine health status and review diagnostic tests, treatments, and orders
- Make post‑operative rounds and provide patient and family education
- Perform routine procedures, including drawing venous/arterial blood; administering general, regional, and local anesthesia; administering injections; placing NG tubes; administering local infiltrative anesthesia; placing central venous lines and Swan Ganz lines
- Provide regional anesthesia under a delegating physician, including topical, infiltration, spinal, epidural, intravenous, upper and lower body blocks, and other peripheral blocks
- Initiate and transcribe orders of a collaborating physician
- Place intravenous catheters and administer fluids, blood and/or blood products, muscle relaxants, vasoactive agents, and cardiac drugs
- Manage mechanical ventilation, resuscitation techniques, cardiopulmonary bypass, autotransfusion, hypotensive and hypertensive care, and hypothermia management
- Assess the physical, psycho‑social, spiritual, cultural, functional, and high‑risk needs of the patient; collaborate on a plan of care with the patient care team; monitor patients peri‑operatively; round on patients as requested
- Draw venous/arterial blood; place central venous lines and Swan Ganz lines; perform venipuncture; insert nasogastric and orogastric tubes; manage and initiate mechanical ventilation; manage and initiate autotransfusion techniques; provide general, regional, local, and moderate sedation anesthesia; monitor patients according to standards
- Provide regional anesthesia, including spinal, epidural, and IV regional blocks
- Demonstrate compliance with infection control and safety; practice standard precautions and disease‑specific isolation; appropriately handle and dispose of unused medications; keep the work area clean; care for equipment; ensure a safe patient environment; obtain training prior to equipment use; ensure equipment is functioning properly; participate in time‑out procedure; administer medication safely and competently; understand drug actions, side effects, and contraindications; adhere to medication policies and standards;
safely administer fluids, blood, blood products, muscle relaxants, vasoactive drugs, and cardiac drugs - Ensure patient and family rights are respected and maintained; maintain patient privacy
- Master of Science in Nursing (required)
- 2‑3 years of experience (preferred)
- APRN license in state of employment (required)
- CRNA certification from NBCRNA (required)
- ACLS required
- PALS required
- BLS required
