Customer Service Rep, Cashier, Retail Associate/ Customer Service
Summary
Supervise the cashiers on shift to ensure quality customer service, train new hires, operate the cash register to itemize and total purchases in gas, deli, grocery, beer, liquor, tobacco, lottery, scratch‑offs, and money orders, make change, verify cash drops, ensure open/close shifts according to procedure, and maintain inventory control.
Shift Leader Responsibilities- Supervise cashiers on shift to ensure quality customer service.
- Train all new hires in a timely and proficient manner.
- Operate the cash register to itemize and total customers' purchases in gas, deli, grocery, beer, liquor, tobacco, lottery, scratch‑offs, money orders, and other retail items.
- Collect cash, checks, or charge payments from customers, make change for cash transactions.
- Count money in the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure the drawer balances with sales.
- Verify all cash drops.
- Make change for all cashiers on shift as needed.
- Ensure open/close of shifts are done in a timely manner according to policy.
- Record daily transaction amounts from the cash register to balance the drawer.
- Bags merchandise, issues receipts, and redeems promotional coupons.
- Review price sheets to note price accuracy and changes on gas, deli, beer, liquor, or tobacco and all sale items.
- Record prices and departments accurately on the register to ensure taxable items and totals are correct.
- Stock and clean shelves, and mark prices on items.
- Use the register to swipe all identification to satisfy legal age requirements for selling tobacco, beer, liquor and lottery tickets.
- Promote and ensure customer satisfaction on all purchases.
- Greet all customers as they enter the store.

Required Certifications and LicensesThe shift leader must maintain at all times a valid State and Parish Certifications and/or Licenses and present them to management or officials when asked.
