Field Technician responsible for start‑up commissioning, integration, emergency service and troubleshooting of Vertiv electrical switch gear 480
VAC/15
KVAC, incl. PDU, ATS, PDC, circuit breakers, protective relays, PLC, meters, and other automated devices, as well as mechanical repairs and modifications under the direction of senior technicians.
The Technician promotes excellent rapport with customers, co‑workers, sales representatives and maintains continuous communication with CRC, Supervisor and direct manager.
Responsibilities- Plan and accomplish goals with limited experience and judgment.
- Perform a variety of work‑related tasks.
- Work under general supervision but largely independently.
- Maintain certifications per Job Progression table.
- Render on‑site and phone assistance to customers.
- Communicate with National Technical Support on equipment issues.
- Perform work‑related tasks per company guidelines for scheduled maintenance.
- Implement Field Change Notices according to published guidelines.
- Keep current on Safety Bulletins, Safety Field Change Notices, Field Change Notices, and Service Tips.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Mechanical & Electrical aptitude.
- 2+ years of hands‑on electronic experience or field services.
- Training in electrical theory and technologies.
- Familiarity with electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical line diagrams and blueprints.
- Ability to regularly lift at least 50 pounds.
- Vision abilities: close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus.
- Standard computer skills: MS Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Customer‑first mindset.
- ASEET certification.
- Medium lifting: 30–45 lbs.
- Heavy lifting: >50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, kneeling, crawling, stooping, bending, twisting, climbing stairs/ladders.
- Frequent driving (car, van, truck).
- Work in extremes: cold 100°F.
- Noise level: medium/high, may need to shout.
- Work around moving machinery.
- Protective equipment required: earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.
- Outdoor work without effective weather protection.
- 80% travel.
- Assignments typically 4 weeks to 12+ months.
- Field rotation: 3 consecutive weeks on customer site + 1 week in home office for billable time and administrative duties.
- Must pass a drug test and a pre‑employment background check.
- Work authorization: must be legally authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorship provided.
