This mid‑level technician will perform certified DOT inspections, preventive maintenance inspections, and light/follow‑up repairs on a range of truck equipment. The role requires creative problem‑solving in emergency situations, effective decision‑making, excellent customer service, and strong situational awareness. While dedicated hours are assigned, flexibility for emergency roadside services and efficient work scheduling are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Perform certified DOT inspections and preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Execute light mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic diagnostics.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, power steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled safety training and remain current on safety protocols.
  • Document work on Repair Orders (RO), upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings observed using the company‑issued device and proprietary application.
  • Communicate with management, team members, and Dispatch via Microsoft Office products, email, or phone to obtain approvals, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss findings and notes.
  • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors and independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, including periodic reconciliation.
  • Diagnose, inspect, and repair various truck equipment using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Manage own daily schedule, prioritize tasks, and allocate time efficiently.
  • Work with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of experience in a related field (light & heavy duty preferred). Candidates may also have a different combination of education and experience, including any level degree/certification beyond a high school diploma/GED.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for required job duties.
  • Must successfully complete and pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
  • Current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical; if the medical card has four months or less, a DOT physical will be required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and able to operate interstate commerce per regulations.
  • Safe driver with a 3‑year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review required; must hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license and obtain/maintain a Driver Qualification File.

  • Hourly base pay: $28.65 – $42.98 per hour.
  • Possibility of additional compensation through commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or incentive programs.
Benefits
  • Minimum of 6.67 hours of paid time off (PTO) every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
  • Additional paid time off available for bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
