Qualifications- Possession of GCSE qualifications of grade 4 or above in English Language and Maths or equivalent, along with a good supporting education.
- Customer Service or Business Administration NVQs are desirable; the Trust will offer the opportunity to gain these qualifications within the job role.
- Previous administrative experience, including booking or appointment experience, beneficial but not essential; full training will be provided.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of data protection and maintaining strict confidentiality in the healthcare setting.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, flexibility, good time management and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Based in a busy call centre environment, manage bookings of outpatient appointments and procedures.
- Collaborate closely with managers and staff at all levels to develop and maintain a high quality Patient Access Service.
- Work within the busy Booking and Scheduling Department based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital or William Farr House.
- Support colleagues while managing own workload; strong team player and highly organised.
- Handle outpatient and inpatient appointments across the Trust, taking approximately 1,000 calls from patients per day.
- Manage waiting list, clinic rescheduling and inquiries from colleagues and patients.
- Provide booking services for outpatients across the main sites:
The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. - Make outgoing calls and take incoming calls as part of the busy office environment; supported by Team Leaders.
