Governance Officer

Governance Officer needed in Basildon Paying £20.37 per hr  Full time hours on a temporary basis

Key Responsibilities Provide administrative and governance support to committees, sub-committees, partnerships, executive meetings, and member working groups. Arrange and clerk formal meetings, including preparing agendas, reports, and supporting documentation. Attend meetings, take accurate minutes, and record decisions and action points. Ensure compliance with the Constitution, statutory requirements, and governance procedures. Support councillors and senior officers with meeting administration and governance advice.

Coordinate appointments to external and partnership bodies, including nominations and annual reporting. Organise and administer councillor training programmes. Maintain accurate records of Member training and development activities. Manage administration for newly elected Members. Monitor governance deadlines and ensure timely publication of agendas, reports, and minutes. Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with GDPR and Data Protection legislation. Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, and health and safety policies across all duties.
