About this jobWhat skills and experience we're looking for Main Purpose
Work closely with the Faculty Leader to drive high standards in curriculum, teaching, learning, and assessment.
Provide leadership within the faculty by line managing designated staff, supporting professional development, and ensuring consistency of practice.
Take responsibility for delegated curriculum areas, resource development, and monitoring teaching quality to secure excellent outcomes for all learners.
Support Faculty Leader in implementing faculty improvement plans and QA cycles, leading on development projects if required.
Deputise for Faculty Leader as and when required, including leading faculty meetings.
Support the Faculty Leader in delivering a creative, innovative curriculum across the Art, Design & Technology Faculty, and in implementing enrichment and enterprise education initiatives.
Line manage designated members of the faculty, setting clear objectives and supporting appraisal.
Provide day-to-day guidance and support to colleagues, promoting high expectations and professional conduct.
Collaborate proactively with the Faculty Leader on strategic priorities, contributing to decision-making and acting as a key liaison for delegated projects.
Lead on delegated curriculum areas, ensuring sequencing and alignment with school principles.
Contribute significantly to the preparation and quality assurance of teaching resources.
Assist with exam entries, NEAs/coursework, and compliance with JCQ regulations.
Assist in planning resources for creative and practical subjects, including enterprise projects and cross-disciplinary activities.
Teaching, Learning & Quality Assurance
Monitor teaching and learning through observations, learning walks, and work scrutiny as directed by the Faculty Leader.
Provide feedback and support to colleagues to improve classroom practice.
Model excellent teaching and share best practice across the faculty.
Implement QA activities as directed by Faculty Leader and report findings for strategic action.
Model best practice in creative teaching and support colleagues in embedding innovation and enterprise education.
Data & Intervention
Analyse assessment data for delegated areas and implement targeted interventions.
Report findings to the Faculty Leader and contribute to action planning.
Professional Development
Support induction of new staff.
Mentor ATs within the faculty, where applicable.
Contribute to CPD delivery and coaching activities.
Inclusion & Safeguarding
Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed and promote the belonging framework, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
Work with SENDCo to support provision for students with additional needs.
Assist in organising enrichment activities, trips, and events.
Build positive relationships with parents and carers.
Support organisation of extra-curricular clubs, exhibitions, and enterprise events to promote creativity and future skills.
Meetings
Attend faculty meetings and report on developments within Faculty.
Participate in relevant whole-school meetings and CPD sessions.
Support the delivery of faculty CPD and training.
Help keep knowledge and understanding relevant and up-to-date by reflecting on your own practice, liaising with school leaders, and identifying relevant professional development to improve personal effectiveness.
Take opportunities to build the appropriate skills, qualifications, and/or experience needed for the role, with support from the school.
Develop leadership skills to support succession planning within the faculty.
Form Tutor Responsibilities In addition to the core duties of this role, the postholder will undertake the responsibilities of a Form Tutor, providing high-quality pastoral care and guidance for a designated group of students.
This includes:
Acting as the first point of contact for parents/carers on pastoral matters.
Registering students accurately and delivering the agreed tutor programme.
