. Salary: £22,160.62 per annum / £13.25 per hour (not pro rata).
Hours:
37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 08:45 - 16:20.
Contract:
Permanent | Term Time Only. Start:

At Smallbrook School, we’re looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for pupils with complex needs. You’ll help pupils access learning, develop confidence, and grow emotionally and socially, working closely with teachers and a multi-disciplinary team to deliver personalised support both inside and outside the classroom. You’ll be part of a school community that values creativity, inclusion, and wellbeing where your contribution makes a real, positive impact every day.
Key Responsibilities- Provide consistent 1:1 academic and emotional support for pupils with SEND.
- Support pupils with communication, attention, concentration, and social-emotional challenges.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment that promotes engagement and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, families, and external professionals such as Speech & Language Therapists and Educational Psychologists.
- Contribute to planning, delivery, and review of individual learning and support plans.
- Encourage independence, participation, and positive behaviour using child-centred approaches.
- Uphold safeguarding, welfare, and behaviour policies at all times.
- Patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Experienced in an educational setting.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- GCSE qualified in Maths & English (or equivalent).
Smallbrook School is an outstanding co-educational specialist school in Shropshire for pupils aged 7–18 with SEMH, autism, and complex needs, currently increasing capacity from 50 to 80 students.
