Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Overview

The Linden Centre is seeking a highly motivated HLTA to join our specialist team this term. The role involves supporting children in KS1-4 who exhibit challenging behaviours, ensuring they can settle effectively into learning.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will support learning across the school, with a primary focus on primary education. They will own a class, lead lesson delivery, teaching, assessment and nurture activities, support learning in other subjects, and assess students’ learning and social/emotional needs. The role includes delivering interventions, therapeutic workshops, and working collaboratively with other professionals and families.

Qualifications
  • Confident ability to teach a small class in a range of National Curriculum subjects.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional and personal development.
  • Understanding of achievement and inclusion issues for children.
  • Working knowledge of policies and practice for vulnerable learners.
  • Commitment to equalities and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of child protection/safeguarding.
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues, in writing and orally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with diverse communities.
  • Ability to maintain written assessment records.
  • Excellent ICT skills.
  • Strong initiative and problem‑solving ability.
  • Experience working with and managing children and young people.
  • Self‑directed, organised and able to manage time and workload to meet deadlines.
  • Team player, able to collaborate with the wider Linden Centre team.
  • Capable of leading subject area across the whole school.
  • Reliability, punctuality and good timekeeping.
