Sen Teaching Assistant

We are currently looking for a dedicated, caring, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive mainstream primary school in Telford. This is a full time position starting in September 2026, offering the opportunity to become a permanent member of staff for the right candidate.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers and the SEND team to support pupils with a range of additional needs. You will provide one to one support, lead small group interventions, and assist pupils in accessing the curriculum while encouraging their academic, social, and emotional development. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children and wants to make a lasting impact within a primary school setting.

• Provide tailored support for pupils with Special Educational Needs throughout the school day.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Support pupils on a one to one basis and in small group activities.
• Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, communication, and independence.
• Adapt learning resources and classroom activities to meet individual needs.
• Promote pupils' emotional wellbeing and personal development.
• Develop positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents, carers, and external professionals.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

• A degree, or be in their final year of university, in any subject, or relevant experience working with children or young people.
• Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs is beneficial but not essential.
• A patient, calm, and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
• A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position is previous experience working in a school setting.
