Position: History Teacher — High-Achieving Secondary School near Ironbridge, Shropshire

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time Permanent

Salary: Paid to scale (MPS/UPS)

Located close to the historic Ironbridge Gorge in Shropshire this 11-18 secondary school is seeking a full-time History Teacher to join its Humanities faculty. This is a wonderful opportunity for a teacher who is excited by the prospect of bringing the Industrial Revolution to life on the schools doorstep.

The successful candidate will teach History across Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 including GCSE and A-level (exam board flexible to reflect the successful candidates specialism). You will be encouraged to incorporate the areas significant industrial heritage into the curriculum including organising visits to the Ironbridge museums as part of an enriching programme of study. Other responsibilities include contributing to department planning maintaining accurate assessment records and supporting whole-school enrichment activities.

Requirements

  • Degree in History and QTS

  • Strong subject knowledge across KS3-5; A-level experience desirable

  • Enthusiasm for using local heritage to enrich the History curriculum

  • Good organisational skills including planning and risk-assessing educational visits

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative Humanities team
