SEN Teacher – Specialist School in Shrewsbury

Tara Professional Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced and passionate SEN Teachers to support a specialist school in the Shrewsbury area throughout the 2026/27 academic year.

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a specialist setting supporting children and young people with complex and profound learning difficulties, autism, physical and mobility needs, communication difficulties and a range of additional needs.

The school takes a highly personalised approach to education, with a strong focus on communication, independence, wellbeing and helping every pupil achieve their individual potential.

The Role

As a SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, personalised learning experiences that are adapted to the individual needs and abilities of your pupils.

You will work closely with Teaching Assistants, specialist staff and other professionals to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The role may involve supporting pupils with:

  • Autism and complex communication needs
  • Severe and profound learning difficulties
  • Complex and multiple SEND
  • Physical and mobility difficulties
  • Sensory needs
  • Complex medical needs
  • Developing independence and life skills

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEN Teacher, or a mainstream teacher with a strong interest in developing their specialist SEND experience.

We are looking for:
  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • A strong understanding of adapting teaching to individual needs
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • A patient, calm and nurturing approach
  • A genuine commitment to supporting pupils to develop their confidence and independence
  • An understanding of the importance of safeguarding
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Previous experience within a special school or specialist provision would be highly advantageous.
