To provide individual risk assessments of transport provision for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) on behalf of the PTG and ultimately the People directorate along with any other risk assessments which occur in this area.
To co-ordinate and evaluate route risk assessments for SEN and Adult Services transport routes undertaken by operators.
To provide assessment, support on advice around needs, provision of transport and equipment as necessary.
In addition, at key points of the you year you will assist in processing applications and determining eligibility for travel assistance for those children and young people up to age 25 with special education needs, disabilities and/or mobility difficulties, carried out in line with the statutory obligations from the Education Act 1996 and Department for Education guidance.
You will be a compassionate and proactive professional with a strong ability to manage a dynamic workload, particularly within the context of SEND school transport.
You understand the importance of safeguarding and accessibility, and approach risk assessments with both diligence, safety and empathy.
Your proactive mindset will allow you to anticipate potential challenges and implement practical solutions that prioritise the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable children and young people.
With excellent organisational skills and a calm, methodical approach, you work collaboratively with families, schools, and transport providers to ensure safe and appropriate assistance that meets the needs of children and young people.
