Are you looking to step into project delivery and play a pivotal role in keeping engineering projects running smoothly? Do you have a mechanical or technical background and the energy, initiative, and organisation skills to support a busy Projects team?
This is an excellent permanent opportunity to join a collaborative and high-energy Projects team, supporting experienced Project Managers while gaining exposure to all aspects of project delivery. The role offers a clear path to future Project Manager progression.
The RoleAs a Project Support Engineer, you will act as the engine of the Projects team, taking ownership of delegated tasks to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to high-quality standards. You will provide hands‑on support to Project Managers, helping them focus on high-level project management while you keep the day-to-day activities on track.
You will be involved in a wide variety of tasks, including:
- Updating and maintaining project timing plans and schedules
- Chasing suppliers, engineers, and internal teams to meet deadlines
- Supporting budgeting and cost‑tracking activities
- Liaising with Engineering, Purchasing, and Production teams
- Arranging site visits, meetings, and logistics
- Attending internal and client meetings and following up on actions
- Supporting document control, drawing release, and project documentation
- Visiting sites when required to ensure smooth project delivery
- Communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Essentially, if something needs doing to move a project forward, you make it happen.
Who We're Looking For in this dynamic role- Some engineering or technical experience (mechanical / machinery preferred)
- Proactive, positive, and can‑do attitude — no task is too small
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Confident communicator, able to liaise with engineers, suppliers, and clients
- Team player who thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment
- Willingness to get involved wherever needed, including site visits
- Apprentices or early‑career engineers with shop‑floor experience looking to move into projects
- Degree‑qualified engineers seeking exposure to project delivery and commercial aspects
- Anyone looking for a clear career pathway into Project Management
