We are recruiting an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business that delivers end-to-end engineering solutions across the food sector and other regulated industries. The organisation provides a full in‑house service, including CAD design, sheet metal fabrication, conveyor solutions, structural steelwork, laser cutting, site installation, and ongoing machine maintenance. This role will suit a technically strong, commercially minded individual who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, solutions‑led environment.
Using a consultative sales approach, the successful candidate will manage incoming enquiries, develop new business opportunities, and take ownership of the sales process from initial contact through to project completion.
- Manage and respond to incoming enquiries from an established customer base
- Understand customer requirements and propose standard and bespoke engineering solutions
- Proactively source and develop new business opportunities
- Prepare and issue accurate quotations for laser cutting, fabrication, and installation work
- Manage the sales process from quotation through to order completion, resolving any issues along the way
- Follow up on enquiries and quotations to maximise conversion
- Close sales and contribute to ongoing revenue growth
- Build and maintain strong, long‑term customer relationships
- Represent the business professionally at all times
- Proven experience in technical sales within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Strong background in sheet metal, stainless steel fabrication, and mechanical handling
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Competent using a variety of measuring equipment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to meet and exceed sales targets
- Customer-focused mindset with a consultative approach
- Experience with in the food industry is highly advantageous but not essential
- Hard‑working, driven, and self‑motivated
- Confident, professional, and positive in approach
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team
