About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Test & Design Engineer to support our Lab Manager in ensuring product approvals remain current and fully compliant with the latest national and international standards.
This role involves managing third-party product data, liaising with global suppliers, and ensuring all technical documentation is accurate and ready for market. A strong understanding of product design and compliance requirements is essential to identify and resolve issues during the investigation and development stages.
Your work will directly contribute to increasing market share and business returns through the cost-effective and timely development of innovative, compliant products.
Key Responsibilities
Create comprehensive product risk assessments
Develop and implement test plans aligned with relevant standards and legislation
Maintain internal design and test verification methods in line with the latest approval standards
Review and interpret third-party test reports to identify product coverage and outstanding data requirements
Maintain product databases and supporting documentation
Create technical files in accordance with product legislation
Liaise with global suppliers to obtain required technical information
Develop technical presentations and applied samples for sales support and customer demonstrations
Design packaging and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Create and maintain technical drawings for both third-party and in-house products
Conduct sample inspection and testing to verify products meet expectations
Create and maintain data/energy labels, product codes, packaging materials, and instruction manuals
Define and maintain spares lists
Essential Requirements
Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in an engineering role within a manufacturing environment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematic diagrams
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines
Experience working in a fast-paced environment with high product variants and short lead times
Practical, hands-on engineering knowledge
Willingness to travel to two additional company sites as required
A degree is desirable but not essential - relevant experience will be considered.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Up-to-date knowledge of legislative and compliance changes
Previous product testing experience
Experience with in appliance, food service equipment, or mechanical product design
