Principal Engineer - Infrastructure Projects

Job Description

Senior or Principal Engineer role based in the WSP Shrewsbury office. Flexible hybrid working is supported.

The role will oversee complex highway schemes from conception through to delivery, manage technical resources, deliver projects on time and within budgets, and communicate effectively with clients, contractors and key stakeholders.

• Overseeing complex highway schemes from conception through to delivery.
• Managing technical resources effectively to meet demanding timescales and budgets.
• Communicating effectively with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders to deliver outputs on time and within budget.
• Strong working knowledge of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality requirements, including CDM 2015.
• Development and support of funding applications.
• BIM‑compliant preliminary and detailed design in accordance with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW).
• Preparation of NEC4 (ECC) contract documents and experience of contract administration.
• Developing effective relationships with wider WSP teams to draw on additional specialist resources as required.
• Delivering highway projects using a structured, risk‑based approach.

• Full membership of a relevant professional institution, with CEng or IEng status (or working towards).
• Experience in highway or infrastructure project delivery.
• Evidence of leading the delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
• A commitment to working collaboratively and innovation.
